mah mah mah

I'm very sorry for my disappearance from the blogging world; I was extremely busy. But the past is the past, and here is a new post! School starts in (ohmagoodness) two weeks, and I cannot wait for the social and fashion aspect of it. I'm starting high school this year, and I want to make an impact on what people think about my style. First-day-of-school outfit, here I come!
Anyway, this is a lazy sunday afternoon outfit, and I love it. Stripes + Overalls =amazing!

Mix it Up #2

The awesome shirt and necklace I bought at F21 I love the pocket detail! MY homemade pepperoni deep-dish pizza Sorry about the last post; I have absolutely no idea what happened. I was just typing in the title and suddenly something clicked and said: Your blog post has published successfully. Yeah, whatever. So now for the real post.
I went shopping (again) at the kind of local mall and, what can I say? I love Forever 21. As I shopped through the others stores, I ignored the temptation to buy something so I could save my money for Forever 21. I was tempted twice, once in Aeropostale and Charlotte Russe, but I held my head strong and reminded myself of the joys that would be waiting in F21. And there were. I actually DID NOT spend more than an hour *gasp* in the store like last time, but I did come out with some marvelous finds: A long-sleeved gray shirt that I love and this really cute Japanese voodoo-ish looking doll necklace.
The pizza, by the way, is the pepperoni deep-dish pizza that I made for my family a few nights ago. Not to brag, but it was delicious!

TOMS

My 4th of July outfit with my new TOMS! Finally, after weeks of waiting, I have a pair of TOMS!! My wonderful friend Megan didn't want them any more, so she gave them to me and my sister. If I eventually save up enough money, I might buy myself a pair of other TOMS(tie-dyed or striped). Happy weekend!

LPD

This lovely dress here is my LPD, or little plaid dress. I bought it at my dear friend's second-hand store a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait to wear it. Every time I put it on, I feel like Nancy Drew! The white shirt I'm wearing is one of my mother's Calvin Kleins that I found stored away in the very back of her closet. I took pity on the beautiful cotton shirt and have fallen in love with it since! Notice the change of picture background. I realized the bricks of my house matched perfectly with my new dress. To my U.S. readers, Happy Fourth of July!

Topic Switch

Parmesan-Thyme Rolls. Different, but good. Cheese Ravioli with Spinach and Bacon!!! YUM!!
Ok, so I know this is supposed to be a fashion blog, but I LOVE cooking, so I decided to post one of my meals because it looked oh-so beautiful(it tasted amazing too). I've started to cook more often now because I saw Julie & Julia for the second time(if you haven't seen it, go rent it now!) and the movie totally inspired me. Someday, I would like to add "Chef" to my list of occupations and become the next Julia Child.......... yeah right. So, for now I will stick to cooking for my family. I can dream, can't I?
(Outfit post coming soon on computers near you)

So here is this lovely shirt I bought at the Salvation Army(Shown in my last post below) paired with one of my favorite pairs of shorts and shoes! I absolutely love this outfit.
Ok, so I'm in a bit of a problem, and I was hoping people reading this could please help me out. The first picture shown in this post is an outfit I posted about three weeks ago and I ALSO absolutely love it. Bottom line of the problem: Which outfit should I enter into the Teen Vogue Daily Snapshot Contest? I believe either one will do fine, but I want to choose the best one. This is where my readers come in. Please comment and tell me which outfit YOU want me to choose for the contest. Thank you so much!

Mono-Pop and New Finds

This white bag is a vintage Lord & Taylor purse that I bought a few weeks ago. I am seriously in love with it!
Old Navy clutch. Perfect for summer because of the colors!
This is now my favorite blouse ever! I got it from the salvation army store and am wearing it all the time. It's lacy and I love it!
I am loving this colorful belt of my mom's! I think it adds a lot to my monochromatic gray outfit.
P.S. Thanks for the comments about my previous posts. Keep them coming!

Child's Play or A Way I Remembered My Younger Years

I wore this ensemble of clothes to church last Sunday. At first I really didn't like it, but after getting compliments from people, I felt more confident about the outfit. While wearing it, I felt like I was wearing something from my closet back when I was five because of the blue jacket/sweater and the full white skirt. That thought made me happy.

Give me a Piece of that Southern Sky

This red jacket has a very interesting story. My mother made it 15 years ago for my brother as a pirate costume. Later, when my sister and I were little, we used it as dress-up. It just so happens that I was rummaging through our dress-up awhile ago and noticed how cute the jacket was. I realized it could be put together with many different outfits! So here it is, paired with a Forever 21 dress. Love It!!! The cute kitty next to me is my baby Mia. Isn't she simply adorable?

Geek Chic

I love this whole outfit because everything except the shoes are thrifted! The hat is from an old doll of mine, and the glasses are non-prescription, A.K.A., I don't have to wear them. I just like them as an accessory!
This last picture is of my sister, Abby, who diligently photographs all my pictures. Thanks!

Speed Shopping is Not For Me

Yesterday, after an awesome band performance(straight ones!) Mr. Wallace took us to Colin Creek Mall. It was sort of a letdown partly because it wasn't as big as I expected, but having a Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe were bonus points. Waltzing into Forever 21, I planned to stay in there for an hour, but my friends were getting bored and saying that the clothes were ugly(how could they?!?!) and so even though I had intended to buy something , I can't speed shop. So I took one long last look at the store, and moped my way down the escalator. Later, we came to Charlotte Russe, and I knew I just had to buy something there. It's Charlotte Russe, for heaven's sake! Thankfully, the store was much more organized than F21, and I could browse faster at my own ease. Deciding between a camo-green tee, and a tube floral smock, I eventually chose the smock because it was at a good price and florals are so in. Main Point: I have something new to wear on Sunday!

Ah! The Scent of Summer Shoes

Now that winter is finally wrapping up, and lots of layering with scarfs, jackets, coats, sweaters, etc., will be out of style, there is another lovely and vital accessory to have: Shoes! Ugg boots were in during winter,( unfortunately, people are abusing these furry things, by wearing them during April! Hello! IT'S OFFICIALLY SPRING! BOOTS ARE FOR COLD WEATHER, NOT 80-DEGREE WEATHER! Sorry. I had to get that out of my system. It's such a horrible fashion statement in warm temperatures that I cringe every time I see someone in the halls at school wearing them right now. Ugh. And they're trying to be cool.) Anyway, back to the main topic.
Sandals: No matter what color or style, these shoes are definitely in this spring and summer.Wherever shoes are sold. Blogger's Pick: Stiletto sandals.
Converse-These trendy shoes have been worn for decades and are now starting to make a bigger comeback this spring with bright colors, such as hot pink and shocking lime green. Blogger's Pick: see-through Converse
TOMS Shoes- The truly sole-ful shoes! This organization, founded by Blake Mycoskie, is an awesome fashionable charity. When you buy a pair of these simply made, yet comfortable shoes, a pair is given for free to a person in a poor nation who can't afford shoes. Blogger's Pick: Jackson Pollack-like TOMS
Cowboy Boots- Whether or not they're in style, these are my favorite kind of shoes. You can wear them with jeans, a dress, skirts; basically anything! Blogger's Pick- A pair of mine which I bought at Goodwill. After all, I don't see any fur in them, do you?

Teen Vogue

Yesterday, I walked into my room, and low and behold, there was Teen Vogue,my fashion bible, resting on the edge of my bed. Naturally, I started freaking out and screaming because after four weeks of waiting, it was here!!! I read through all of it, devouring every piece of information I could. Tonight I'll probably read it again.
A small problem: Easter Sunday is in two days(don't forget to go to church!) and I have a beautiful skirt to wear, but I'm not sure what top to wear! Hopefully, I'll figure it out tonight or tomorrow!

A nice end to spring break was....

SNOW!!! Yes, you read that right. When looking out my window on the last day of Spring Break, I saw a fesh pile of snow on the ground. And today, I was out playing tennis today wearing shorts and a t-shirt in nice seventy-degree weather. Yep, that's Texas for ya. But anyway, I liked the snow because I was able to wear my warm, comfy cute pea coat one last time beofre it was to be hidden back in my closet. Next, denim shorts and swimsiuts!

$7.50 shoes!!! What?!?!?!?

OK, so I went shopping again today( I'm not an addict, it's just spring break and I have time) and bought the shoes pictured for like $7.50. Aren't they just simply ah-dorable? I don't think I'll wear them to school yet because, well, people in my school don't wear fancy footwear like that. But, I'll show them off any time I can!
P.S. if you take the heels of f them , don't they kind of look like bowling shoes? just a thought.

Went shopping in Allen today, but wasn't genuinely excited about any of the clothes. All the boutiques were for like 35+ women. I'm not dissing that age, but the clothes are definitely not my style. A plus: I got these really cute earrings for a buck. Yes, read that again. A buck. Awesome, I know! Side note: A good reason to see Alice in Wonderland is because of the costume designs. They're detailed very well and have a lot of bright colors. My favorite costume is Alice's dresses when she is in, well, Wonderland. It's a light blue dress with spaghetti straps, but the best part is on top is a huge flower made out of ribbon. Another dress she wears would look like a Goth dress, except that it's red and has black lace as part of the skirt, and would make for an awesome prom dress if Alice were in the 21st century. Don't forget to read my older posts!

If malls mean walking around, then is shopping exercise?

Spring Break means shopping, shopping, shopping, which I did yesterday and then promptly dropped.
Unfortunately, eating+ ice skating,(<3)>= less time, so I only go tto shop in Forever 21. But, that also happens to be my favorite store! The picture to the right shows the awesome shirt and shorts I bought, paired with a tan vest of mine. Cute, right? Can't wait until school starts so I can premier my they-still-smell-like-the-store clothes. Tomorrow is St. Patty's Day, so don't forget to wear green. I, always trying to be above the norm(or accidentally wearing my green T-shirt today), will dig around in my closet to see if I can find a green bandanna. Some other cute items to wear instead of a plain tee: green shoes, green scarf, green jewelry, green socks with shorts/capris, green bel,t green pants, green nail/toe polish, or better yet, paint yourself green.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I love Sundays, because I can actually wear cute skirts and dresses to church that I can't wear at my school because of a stupid no above-knee rule. Wearing them to church also allows a more diverse venue of people able to see the outfits I can create by myself! Pictured above is the outfit I wore today, which consists of a dress and tights from Forever 21(best store eva!!), a red belt from deep down in my closet, and my mom's old Coel Haan(mine now) shoes which are so adorable and trendy, and surprisingly, in good shape! I was actually kind of shocked when she brought them to me, because I thought she had given them away a long time ago. Now I have another pair of shoes to add to my plethora in my (and my sister's) closet. Two thumbs up!
Side note: Last week during Paris fashion week, some designers, including Marc Jacobs, used more fuller (body)models on the catwalks, which received praised from many critics. I thought this was extremely cool because many girls think that only if they're skinny are they pretty, which is not true. However a certain designer, Karl Lagerfield, the head designer of Chanel, obviously does not want to send this message. Six months ago when people criticized him for using very skinny models, he responded," No one wants to see round women." What a statement! " No one wants to see round women." We see them all the time! Everywhere you go, be it work, school, shopping, etc., you see round women because duh, we're women! We have curves. Main point: Mr. Lagerfield needs to come back to reality.

Fashion Career Send-Off

Since the budding trees are giving a spring gift to Earth, I've decided to give a gift to you: My blog!!!!! I'm so extremely excited because technically this is the start of my happily dreamed/planned fashion career. And even though I can't work at Teen Vogue till another, oh, couple of years, I might as well start here. It better turn out okay.Maybe one day when I'm finally in NYC a person connected to the fashion business world will see my name and say, "Oh, you're the girl who's post I so ardently read every single God-given day because of her wit and fashionistic ideas!" whatever. I love being able to show my dramatic flair.:) But, I'll keep on dreaming.
Signing off,
Jessy, A.K.A., Miss J
